Sherrei (writer)

Why did you decide to apply and work with us?
I decided to apply for Young Publisher because I was looking for a full-time and long-term job. I also love the subject matter of the website.
Another factor is the benefits that Young Publisher offers. It is generous compared to other job listings that I applied for. So I am very happy that Young Publisher replied to my application.
Did the job meet or exceed your expectations (and in what way)?
Yes, it met and exceeded my expectations. I had some idea of how content writing and publishing worked. But my experience was in small-start ups. Or I’ll be freelancing a few articles only.
So there was some much needed adjustment at first. But the guidance provided has been a very great help.
What are the most valuable things you’ve learned since you started?
The most valuable things I’ve learned since I’ve started is how to write effective infotainment and how to hone my time management.
How did this job help you develop your skills?
What really helped me to hone my skills is the whole experience of writing articles. And the editing process based on the feedback provided.
It has allowed me to think critically about certain angles that I needed to present in my articles.
How would you describe the work environment?
For me, it is the ideal work environment. The work-from-home set-up really fits my lifestyle. And I feel comfortable working with Young Publisher.
It’s an environment where there is structure, but you can still have your individual opinions.
What do you like best about this job?
I love the dynamics between everybody in the team. Everyone is so professional. Another plus is the medium of communication. I love having it in email.
What would you improve and why?
As I said, it’s the ideal work environment for me. And the Young Publisher onboarding process prepares new writers really well for the job. So as of now, there’s nothing that I’d like to improve.
Is there anything you miss and if so, what is it?
WFH jobs are ideal for me but I sometimes miss interacting with people face to face.
Which is your favorite part of the work process?
I love the whole process. But if I were to pick one it would be, research. I love learning new things. Especially if the information is something I can apply in my daily life (which I can). 🙂
What do you think are the most important abilities for this job?
I think the most important abilities for this job are:
- The ability to absorb information at a fast pace.
- Knowing how to search for credible and useful information.
- A willingness to learn new things and change your mind accordingly.
If you ever start getting bored, what new challenge would you be up for?
I don’t think I would ever get bored of writing, it will forever be my first love. But at some point, when I’ve gained enough experience, I’d like to edit articles. And help others how to improve their writing. The way Young Publisher has honed my writing skills.
