Maro (writer)

Why did you decide to apply and work with us?
To be honest, I applied for the job because the company offers a competitive salary. Writing is one of the most underpaid jobs. And Young Publisher made it possible for me to earn well while doing the thing I love—writing. Not to mention that the work is not hectic at all.
Did the job meet or exceed your expectations (and in what way)?
The job exceeded my expectation. I love the work set up the most. Although we mainly use email to communicate, I appreciate that I receive timely feedback, which helps improve my writing skills.
And I appreciate that I can choose to work more if I want to. It allows me to understand myself better and discover how much I’m capable of.
What are the most valuable things you’ve learned since you started?
When you work with people who are genuine with what they do, work becomes easy. And I experienced that with Young Publisher.
Young Publisher understands that writing is creative work. Writers need rest, pauses, praises for good work, and constructive feedback to continue working well. They understand that creating healthy and active relationships with their writers is necessary to build a reliable and strong team.
How did this job help you develop your skills?
Working with Young Publisher helped me discover my voice.
I’ve been writing for several years already. But I didn’t know what my writing style was until I joined the company.
The company let me show my “playful” personality in my articles. I realized that I enjoy writing better when I write my real thoughts and don’t hold back anything.
How would you describe the work environment?
The work environment is “freeing.”
I work five days a week, write articles every day, and submit daily reports. But I never felt like its draining because Young Publisher let me work on my own phase. I write what I can and only what I can.
What do you like best about this job?
What I like the most about this job is that the company consults writers on how much they can work. They set a minimum workload, but they never push a writer to work beyond their limit.
What would you improve and why?
I wish I could communicate more with the other writers. I love working independently, but it would be nice to talk with people I work with.
Is there anything you miss and if so, what is it?
I started working three weeks ago, so I guess this question is not for me.
Which is your favorite part of the work process?
When I put trivia or background history on my articles. I think it makes the article interesting and engaging, plus I enjoy it myself.
What do you think are the most important abilities for this job?
Research.
You can write thousands of words a day. But it will only be considered a “good article” if facts and solid research support it.
I’m a journalism graduate, so I understand how research is important in crafting an informational article.
Next, story-telling skills.
Anyone can write. That’s why a lot of people often assume that writing is an easy job. But not everyone can write well, and not everyone can engage a reader. You can train to become a great storyteller. But I think the best storytellers are the ones that naturally have creative minds.
If you ever start getting bored, what new challenge would you be up for?
Next to writing, I enjoy layout editing. So, if you ever need help in creating blog post covers, I can send my layout design portfolio 😀
